Von Humboldt (Alexander) Foundation--Research Prizes and Fellowships

Max-Planck Cooperative Research Prizes: Prizes are awarded annually 
        to internationally recognized non-German and German scholars
	who will conduct long-term, project-oriented cooperative
   	research. 

Period: 3 years, with possible extensions of up to two additional years.

Prize: The prize amount will depend on the nature of the research 
        and may reach the maximum sum of DM 250,000. These funds may 
	be used for travel, research stays at partner institutions,
	joint academic conferences, workshops, supplies and research
	support personnel.

Feodor-Lynen Research Fellowships for German Scholars: Fellowships 
	are granted to highly qualified German scholars- not more than
	38 years of age - for the conduct of research at non-German
	home institutions of recipients of Humboldt fellowships and 
	prizes. 

Eligibility: Doctoral degree or other high academic qualification,
        formal invitation by a non-German Humboldt award recipient,
	agreement by a German scholar to serve as advisor (mentor),
	publications record, specific research plan, and good command 
	of the language of the host country.

Period: One to two years.

Stipend: The award amount will vary between DM 3,200 and DM 4,000 
	(joint financing by the Humboldt Foundation and the host
	institute is required); additional assistance is available
	for travel, accompanying spouse, expatriation, and health
	insurance.

Deadline: There is no official application deadline. The committee
 	will meet in March, June/July and November, therefore, 
	applicants must submit materials five months prior to the
	scheduled committee meeting.
