Teach for America--1998 Summer Institute, Operations Coordinator Program Teach for America is national teacher corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit two years to teach in under-resourced urban and rural public schools. Each year, about 1,000 corps members reach more than 100,000 students. Corps members were leaders on their college campuses, are leaders in their classrooms, schools and communities, and will be lifelong leaders in the pursuit of educational excellence for all children. Operations Coordinator Program: coordinators are responsible for supporting the organization's efforts to manage and maintain a successful summer institute that serves over 500 teachers, called corps members, 150 faculty and staff members, and the summer schools program that serves over 3,000 students at nine different public school sites in Houston, Texas. The summer institute is the primary component of Teach for America's pre-service program.
