Spencer Foundation - Dissertation Fellowships The goal of the Spencer Foundation is to support research that gives promise of yielding new knowledge about education, in any of its many forms, in the United States and abroad. The foundation assists studies with a wide variety of disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to this end. Dissertation Fellowships for Research Related to Education: The Spencer Foundation seeks to encourage, through its Dissertation Fellowships, a new generation of scholars from a variety of fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education. Eligibility: Applicants must be candidates for the doctoral degree in any field of study at a graduate school in the U.S. Dissertation topics must concern education and all pre-dissertation requirements must be completed by June 1, 2001. Grant period: Twelve months Stipend: A $20,000 award will be given to support completion of the dissertation. This amount must be expended within the time limit of two years and in accordance with the work plan provided by the candidate in the application. Deadline: Requests for application materials must be received by October 6, 2000. Application materials must be submitted by mail and postmarked by October 18, 2000.
