Social Science Research Council--Soviet Union and Its' Successor States The Eurasia Program covers Eastern Europe, the Russian Empire, and the Soviet Union and its successor states. It offers fellowships for individuals and institutional awards. All awards and award programs are contingent on the availability of funds. The Eurasia Program supports projects that combine innovative, interdisciplinary methodologies with important archival and field research in either the social sciences or humanities. Dissertation Fellowships: These awards of up to $15,000 are intended to provide support to students who have completed research for their doctoral dissertations and expect to complete the writing of their dissertations during the next academic year. Eligibility: U.S. citizens specializing in any discipline of the social sciences and humanities in the study of the Soviet Union and its successor states. Application deadline: November 1, 1999 Postdoctoral Fellowships: These awards are intended to improve the academic employment and tenure opportunities of new Ph.D.'s in any discipline of the social sciences and humanities in the study of the Soviet Union and its successor states. Fellowship stipends of $24,000 may be spent flexibly over a two-year period. Eligibility: US citizens who received the Ph.D. after 1991 and are untenured.
