Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants in Sociology: 
Small grants are awarded for doctoral dissertation research in 
sociology.

Eligibility: Proposals should be submitted by the dissertation
     advisor (principal investigator) acting on behalf of a 
     graduate (co-P.I.). Obtain Program Announcement NSF 92-114
     for further information.

Period: Awards are usually for one year to 18 months, depending
     on the time it takes to complete the dissertation research.

Award: The award does not provide a stipend to the student, but 
    rather $7,500 or less in funds for actual research expenses.

Deadline: February 15th and October 15th
