Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers--Awards in Pharmacoeconomics The Faculty Development Awards in Pharmacoeconomics program compares the value of pharmaceuticals and the value of the quality of life they provide with costs. The purpose of this program is to strengthen representation of pharmacoeconomics in schools of pharmacy, medicine and public health by helping to maintain the present academic capability and ultimately to expand this by broadening the faculty base. Faculty Development Awards in Pharmacoeconomics: The thrust of the program is to further the research, teaching, and administrative skills at a critical time in an individual's career development. The program anticipates that the candidate should have teaching responsibilities, but these must not interfere with the opportunity for the candidate to extend his research skills. The emphasis of the program is on assisting those who are beginning their independent careers as full-time faculty members on tenure track. Eligibility: Applicants must have USA citizenship or permanent residency. Candidates must have a doctoral degree and have or are being considered for full-time primary appointments as instructors or assistant professors at schools of medicine, pharmacy, health, economics, or public health. The applicant may apply if he/she will be on tenure track by the time the award begins in July. Faculty at the doctoral level with equivalent positions are eligible to apply. Before an individual is eligible to apply for a PhRMA Foundation award, he/she must first have a firm commitment from a USA university. Period: Two years. Award: The award should be used for salary and fringe benefits of the appointee. Payment of the award will be made directly to the institution on behalf of the individual, in quarterly payments beginning July 1 of each year. Deadline: Applications must be received by September 1, 1997. Note: Applications must be submitted by an accredited school in the USA. Contact: Ms. C.
