Louisiana State University--Huel D. Perkins Doctoral Fellowship Program The Huel D. Perkins Doctoral Fellowships are available to qualified African-American doctoral students. Recognition awards are also available to enrolled LSU doctoral students. Evaluation and selection is based upon the applicant's academic record, the recommendations of former teachers, and a brief statement of professional intentions. Strong preference will be given to Louisiana residents. Eligibility: The fellowships are open to qualified African-American doctoral students. Fellows will be chosen from applicants demonstrating extraordinary potential for success in a doctoral program. Candidates holding a bachelor's or master's degree and who intend to pursue a doctoral program at LSU will be eligible for consideration. Stipend: A stipend of $14,000 per year for three years. A fourth year of funding will be provided if the Fellow passes the general examination and has submitted an approval dissertation topic by the end of the third year.
