Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation-Student Intern Award Program The primary goal of the Student Intern Award Program is to provide an opportunity for high-school seniors, college, graduate and medical school students to engage in clinical and research programs related to pediatric HIV/AIDS, providing motivation for them to consider future careers in pediatric HIV/AIDS. Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in school full-time (or planning to enroll in the fall). Students will not be allowed to perform this internship as part of their dissertations or theses. Post-doctoral fellows are not eligible for this program. Program Components: Candidates must apply through a sponsor who has expertise in pediatric AIDS. The sponsor must be a M.D., Ph.D. or licensed clinical social worker. A sponsor may not apply with more than one student for this program during the award period. The internship should be oriented towards basic medical research, clinical research (including epidemiological) or psychological research. The sponsor must indicate the relevance of this internship to pediatric AIDS. The intern's work must consist of active participation--not merely attending clinical rounds and patient discussions. Period: The internship may be performed any time during the twelve-month period beginning April 28, 2000. Award: Interns receive an award of $2,000 for 320 hours of work (a minimum of four hours per week during the award period). Deadline: Applications must be received by March 31, 2000. Faxed applications will be not accepted. Contact: Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation 2950 31st Street, Suite 125 Santa Monica, CA 90405 Attn: Grants Division Tel.
