Organization of American States The OAS' fundamental objective is to promote the economic, social, scientific and cultural development of the Member States in order to achieve a stronger bond and better understanding among the peoples of the Americas through the advanced training of its citizens in the priority areas requested by the countries. Fellowships: There are 2 types of fellowships a) those for advanced study at the graduate level and b) those for research. Countries where tenable: for study in member countries of OAS (contact OAS for a complete list of member countries). With the exception of the country in which the candidate is a citizen or permanent resident. Eligibility: applicant must have advanced training in his/her field, know the language of the country, and plan to return to their own country. Advanced study applicants must submit a detailed plan of study. Research fellows must submit a detailed plan of proposed research. Amount: round-trip ticket, registration, tuition fees, study materials, health insurance and a cost of living allowance.
