Odyssey of the Mind (OM) Association - Outstanding Dissertation Awards In its continuing endeavor to recognize the significance of the creative problem-solving process, OM has chosen to acknowledge annually, an individual whose research best exemplifies this philosophy. Eligibility: Any doctoral candidate may enter if his or her dissertation was completed and approved since the 1993 academic year from an institution of higher education that is sanctioned by a state, regional, or provincial accrediting agency. Individuals may submit their own work, or faculty members may submit entries to OM on behalf of candidates. Award: The first place winner will receive $1,500 and the second place winner will receive $750. Deadline: All entries must be postmarked no later than June 1, 1998. An entry consists of the dissertation abstract, a brief statement identifying the specific strategic OM Research Question(s) addressed and the official entry form. The university dissertation committee must sign the official entry form to ensure that the nominated dissertation is in compliance with the Association's submission standards and guidelines.
