New York State Assembly--Graduate Internship The Assembly Graduate Internship provides research and policy development experiences for qualified graduate students. The Assembly Intern Committee affords graduate students a unique professional learning experience. Graduate interns have the opportunity to develop their understanding of the legislative process and New York State government and to apply their ideas and research skills in the legislative process. Responsibilities: Graduate Interns serve as full-time Assembly staff and policy analysts. Assignments are based on experience, program of study, interest and the availability of supervision within the Assembly. Graduate Interns' responsibilities can include: fiscal analysis of proposed legislation and program budgets, researching and drafting bills and memos, and preparing background papers and reports. Eligibility: Applicants must be matriculated in or have recently completed a graduate degree program. They must be New York State residents or attend a university in New York State. Applicants should have excellent research skills and a strong interest in government and the legislative process. All majors may apply. Period: Internship runs from January 2nd to June 20, 2001. Stipend: Assembly Graduate Interns receive an $11,500 (bi-weekly $950.42 - before taxes) stipend for six month full-time Internship.
