National Medical Fellowships, Inc.--Special Awards and Fellowships The National Medical Fellowships, Inc. annually presents a number of special awards and fellowships which recognize extraordinary accomplishments as well as encourage academic excellence and leadership. Some of the awards are for specialty areas including: surgery; cardiology; urology; substance abuse research and treatment; medical telecommunications technology; pediatrics; community medicine and HIV/AIDS care and research. Eligibility: Awardees must be U.S. citizens who are enrolled in a M.D. or D.O. degree program in the U.S., be a member of a minority group which is considered underrepresented in the medical profession: African American, Native American, Mexican-Americans and mainland Puerto Ricans.
