Embassy of Japan--Monbusho Research Scholarships The scholarship is for graduate research at Japanese Universities. Candidates from virtually all fields of the humanities and social and natural sciences are encouraged to apply. The proposed course of study in Japan must be closely related to the candidate's undergraduate or current field of study. Eligibility: Graduates of four-year colleges or universities who are under 35 years of age. knowledge of the Japanese language is required. Language training is provided to those whose knowledge of Japanese is insufficient to pursue their studies. Period: Scholarships for up to two years. Award: School fees, including tuition, round-trip airfare to Japan, an arrival allowance of 25,000 yen, and a stipend of approximately $2,000 (185,000 Yen) per month are offered annually.
