The Korea Foundation - Fellowship for Korean Language Training The Korea Foundation seeks to improve awareness and understanding of Korea worldwide as well as to foster cooperative relationships between Korea and foreign countries through a variety of exchange programs. Fellowship for Korean Language Training: The fellowship is available to faculty members, graduate students and other qualified professionals overseas who wish to learn the Korean language in Korea. The fellowship offers foreign scholars and graduate students, who need systematic Korean language education, the opportunity to enroll in a Korean-language program at a language institute affiliated with a Korean university. Eligibility: Researchers and professionals with at least a B.A. degree, including university professors and instructors, graduate students, researchers at research institutes, or other qualified professionals in fields related to Korea. Applicants should have an academic background related to Korean studies in the humanities, social sciences, culture and arts, or comparative research related to Korea. (The natural sciences, medical sciences and engineering fields are not eligible.) Applicants must have basic knowledge of and an ability to communicate in the Korean language. For Korean nationals, only those with foreign residency status are eligible to apply. Grant period: 6 months, 9 months or 12 months Awards: The grant amount will be determined by the Korea Foundation according to its own criteria. A monthly stipend will range from 800,000 kw to 1,000,000 kw. Also, traveler's insurance will be provided during the grant period. With this insurance, a fellow will be fully or partially reimbursed for medical expenses incurred as a result of a sudden illness or accident. Airline tickets or reimbursement are not provided. Tuition: The tuition for language training will be paid by the Korea Foundation directly to the Korean language institute that the Foundation designates according to the fellow's preference.
