The Korea Foundation - Fellowship for Korean Studies The Korea Foundation seeks to improve awareness and understanding of Korea worldwide as well as to foster cooperative relationships between Korea and foreign countries through a variety of exchange programs. Fellowship for Korean Studies: The fellowship is offered to foreign scholars and professional researchers who want to conduct field research in Korea. The fellowship seeks to promote study and research in Korea by facilitating the applicant's research activities. Fields of research include: Korea-related research in the humanities, social sciences, culture and arts, and comparative research related to Korea. (The natural sciences, medical sciences and engineering fields are not eligible.) Eligibility: Doctoral candidates, university professors and instructors, researchers at research institutes, and other qualified professionals. (Doctoral candidates who have completed all academic requirements except their dissertation and are working on their dissertation are preferred.) Applicants must be proficient enough in Korean or English to carry out their research projects. For Korean nationals, only those with foreign residency status and/or regular faculty positions at foreign universities are eligible to apply. Grant period: 3 to 12 months Awards: The grant amount will be determined by the Korea Foundation according to its own criteria. A monthly stipend will range from 1,000,000 kw to 1,300,000 kw. Also, air transportation and traveler's insurance will be provided.
