Kobe College Corporation--Graduate Fellowships in Japan The Graduate Fellowship Program is designed to support future American educators to become more knowledgeable about Japan. The Fellowship affords an opportunity to spend a year in Japan. While in Japan, Fellows will be able to immerse themselves in research and study. Applicants must have a strong interest in Japanese arts, culture, education, language, history, business or journalism. The Fellowships are named for three outstanding longtime and devoted volunteers of the Kobe College Corporation. The three awards are: * The Mildred J. Follett Fellowship (restricted to women) * The Mary Longbrake Fellowship (for men and women) * The Beulah B. Scott Fellowship (restricted to women) Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited higher education institution in the U.S. Applicants must have a history of teaching about Japan, or show promise to do so in the future. Fellows are expected to teach about Japan effectively, upon the return to the U.S. Amount: Each Fellowship will award $22,500 for 1999-2000. Fellowships are not renewable.
