Guggenheim (John Simon) Memorial Foundation   

These fellowships are designed to further the development of scholars and
artists by assisting them to engage in research in any field of knowledge
and creation in any of the arts. The fellowships will be awarded to men
and women who have already demonstrated exceptional capacity for
productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts.

Eligibility: Fellowships are awarded through two annual competitions:
     one open to citizens and permanent residents of the US and
     Canada and the other open to citizens and permanent residents of
     the Caribbean and Latin America. 

Period: 6 months to 1 year

Award: The average grant is approximately $34,863. Actually, grants will 
     be adjusted to the needs of the Fellow.
