Ford Foundation Pre-Doctoral Fellowships for Minorities The National Research Council administers the Ford Foundation Fellowships for Minorities Program. The Pre-Doctoral fellowships are for applicants studying the behavioral and social sciences, mathematics, engineering sciences, and the humanities with the exception of fine arts and performing arts. Predoctoral Fellowships: are intended for minority students who are at or near the beginning of their study toward a PhD or ScD; applicants already enrolled in an eligible doctoral program must require at least three years of full-time support as of September 2002 in order to complete their PhD or ScD. Eligibility: US citizens who are members of the following: Alaskan Natives (Eskimo or Aleut), American Indians, Black/African Americans, Mexican Americans/Chicanos, Native Pacific Islanders and Puerto Ricans. Also, the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test scores are required. Stipend: An annual stipend of $16,000 to each fellow and an annual institutional allowance of $7,500 to the fellowship institution in lieu of tuition and fees for three years.
