Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowships for Minorities The National Research Council administers the Ford Foundation Fellowships for Minorities Programs. Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowships for Minorities: Awards are for postdoctoral research and will be made in behavioral and social sciences, humanities, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences and life sciences, or for interdisciplinary programs composed of two or more eligible disciplines. The following disciplines are not eligible: Medicine, law, social work, library science, public health, business, administration, management, fine arts, speech pathology, audiology, health sciences, home economics, personnel, guidance and education. Eligibility: The fellowship is open to US citizens who are members of the following minority groups: Alaskan Natives (Eskimo or Aleut), American Indians, Black/African Americans, Puerto Ricans, Mexican Americans/Chicanos and Native Pacific Islanders (Polynesian or Micronesian). Applicants are required to have earned the Ph.D. or Sc.D between January 1995 and February 14, 2002 in a field supported by this program. Applicants are expected to be engaged in or planning a career in teaching and research at the college or university level. Location of Work and Proposed Research: Applicants are encouraged to choose a fellowship institution other than the institution with which they are affiliated at the time of application. The fellowships are awarded for full-time research at appropriate not-for-profit institutions of higher education or research, normally in the United States. Award: A $35,000 stipend, travel and relocation allowance of $3000, cost of research allowance of $2,000 and an institution allowance of $2,500. There is no dependency allowance available.
