Council of American Overseas Research Centers--Regional Research Program CAORC Fellowships for Regional Research 2001-2002: for doctoral and postdoctoral research in Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Israel, Yemen, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, as well as other countries in North Africa, the Middle East, and/or South Asia. These additional countries currently eligible include Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Research topics must address multi-country significance in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and related natural sciences. The program is funded by the US Information Agency through the Near and Middle East Research and Training Act. Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Individual or team applications are welcomed. Preference is given to candidates examining comparative and/or cross-regional questions requiring research in two or more countries. Stipend: Approximately eight awards of $6,000 each and up to $3,000 for travel expenses, will be given to scholars. Deadline: December 31, 2000.
