Canadian Government Laboratories--Visiting Fellowships The Visiting Fellowships in Canadian Government Laboratories program provides promising young scientists and engineers with the opportunity to work with research groups or leaders in Canadian government laboratories and research institutions. Eligibility: Fellowships are open to all applicants. Applicants must have received a doctoral degree in the natural sciences or engineering from a recognized university within the past five years. An application will be accepted if a student is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at a recognized university; however, an applicant must expect to complete all requirements for the degree (including the thesis defense) within one year of submitting an application (e.g., by November 15, 2002, if applying for the November 15, 2001, deadline). Applicants will not be allowed to receive an award until confirmation of completion of degree requirements is received. Tenure: Appointments are for one year. Stipend: The fellowship has an annual value of $35,184 plus a travel allowance for fellow, spouse, and children. The stipend and travel allowance are subject to Canadian income tax. Deadline: There are three application deadlines per year: March 15, July 15, and November 15.
