Williams College--G.C. Bolin Fellowships for Minority Graduate Students The Gaius Charles Fellowships were established to underline the importance of encouraging able minority students to pursue careers in college teaching. The fellowships will enable two minority graduate students to devote the bulk of their time during the academic year to the completion of their dissertation work. The fellowships will be awarded to minority students who are working toward a Ph.D. in the humanities or in the natural, social or behavioral sciences. During the year in residence at Williams, the Bolin Fellows will be assigned faculty advisers in the appropriate departments and will be expected to teach one one-semester course. Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must have completed all doctoral work except the dissertation by the end of the current academic year. Period: 1998-1999 academic year Stipend: $26,000, plus housing support and an allowance of up to $2,500 for expenses. Deadline: January 1, 1998. Candidates must submit two full copies of each of the following: a full curriculum vitae, a graduate school transcript and three confidential letters of recommendation, a copy of the dissertation prospectus, preferably limited to 10-15 pp., and a description of teaching interests.
