The Athenaeum of Philadelphia--Internships The Athenaeum of Philadelphia administers the Charles E. Peterson internships in early American architecture and building technology prior to 1860. Internships: Interns are expected to reside in Philadelphia and devote half their time to service in the department of architecture at the Athenaeum to develop practical skills in the management of architectural records. An equivalent amount of time is to be spent on the intern's own research in American architecture or building technology prior to 1860. Eligibility: Applicants must be graduate students enrolled full-time in an architecture of historic preservation program. Period: Internships for periods of up to four months are available. Internships may used in any months of the year. Amount: A stipend of $1,250 per month will be given. Deadline: Applications are accepted each year between January 1 and March 1. There are no formal application forms. However, applicants must submit an outline of their project and explain why access to the research facilities of the Philadelphia region is required. A resume of academic and related work experience must be submitted; along with a letter of reference from the student's principal professor.
