Jessup and McHenry Awards

Jessup funds are awarded competitively to deserving predoctoral and 
postdoctoral students wishing to conduct studies under the supervision
of, or with the sponsorship of, a member of the curatorial staff of The
Academy. Such studies can be in any specialty in which these curators have
expertise. 

The McHenry Fund is similarly intended, but is restricted to botanists. 

Eligibility: Open to predoctoral and postdoctoral students. Students 
	commuting within the Philadelphia area are ineligible. 

Period: The minimum duration of an award is two weeks; the maximum is 
	16 weeks.

Award: Round-trip travel costs up to a total of $500 per student for
	students of North America and $1,000 per student for those outside
	North America. The stipend for subsistence currently is $250 per 
	week. The provision of scientific supplies and equipment is the
	responsibility of the student and the sponsoring curator.

Deadline: March 1 (for work between April 1 and October 31)
	  October 1 (for work between November 1 and March 31)
