American Oriental Society Louise Wallace Hackney Fellowship for the Study of Chinese Art: Two annual fellowships for doctoral and post-doctoral students who study the history of Chinese painting, and to permit the translation into English of works on this subject for the purpose of furthering a better understanding of Chinese painting in the US. Eligibility: Applicants must be US citizens, should have completed three years of study of the Chinese language and demonstrated a commitment to Chinese art. Applicants should submit in duplicate: transcript of undergraduate and graduate coursework, statement of personal finances, three or four page summary of the proposed project to be undertaken with a financial statement explaining the expense involved in this study, and no fewer than three letters of recommendation. Any scholarly papers or published materials in the area of Chinese painting are also welcome. Stipend: $8,000 Deadline: February 1 (annually).
