American Council of Learned Societies--East Europe Travel Grants Travel Grants: for graduate students in the social sciences and humanities who are beginning to formulate research for a dissertation relating to Eastern Europe but lack the necessary field experience. The travel grants are intended to help students define their dissertation proposals by providing travel, maintenance and research support for an investigatory trip to East Europe. Eligibility: Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents who have been accepted into a PhD program and have completed at least 1 year of full-time graduate study by June 1, 1997 and beginning to formulate a research program for the dissertation. Period: Summer 1997 Amount: Maximum of $5,000 for travel, maintenance and research support.
