ACLS/Chinese Fellowships for Scholarly Development This program supports Chinese scholars nominated by a potential US scholar-host to carry out one or two semesters of research in the US in the social sciences or humanities. Chinese scholars nominated must hold the M.A. or PhD from a Chinese institution and they must not be enrolled in an academic degree program. Eligibility: Chinese scholars must reside in China and they should not previously have visited the US for more than five months. All Chinese candidates must be nominated by an American host to reside at the host's institution for a period of research or academic collaboration. Chinese scholars cannot apply directly to the ACLS. Period: Between August 2001 and December 2002. Award: Support is provided for a living allowance, health insurance, and international airfare.
