American Council of Learned Societies--Graduate Research and Study Program National Program for Advanced Study and Research in China The Graduate Program supports individuals enrolled in a doctoral program in the social sciences or humanities to carry out advanced study or dissertation research at a Chinese university or research institute. It requires Chinese language proficiency acquired through at least three years of college-level study or its equivalent. Eligibility: Open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Period: Eleven months beginning September 2000. Award: Monthly stipend and travel allowance.
