In 1929 Shiseido completed the construction of two buildings replacing those destroyed in the earthquake six years earlier. Designed by architect Kenjiro Maeda, the Shiseido Parlour’s third floor featured an expanded art gallery, which Fukuhara had first established in 1919 to show the work of emerging artists. Across the street, the Shiseido Cosmetics Department building housed a beauty salon and sold accessories in addition to cosmetics. Newer versions of the Shiseido store—now called "The Ginza"—and Parlour still exist in the same locations.
