1. Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Chinese Studies at Stanford

Deadline: January 15 each year

Description: The Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University announces post-doctoral positions in Chinese Studies.The fellowship is open to scholars in the humanities and social sciences studying any historical period. Applicants may not be more than five years beyond receipt of the doctoral degree. Applicants must have been awarded a Ph.D. no later than August 1 in the year of the felloship. EAch award carries a generous annual stipend. Fellowships may be given to those hwo hold continuing, assistant professor-level positions. U.S. Citizenship is not required. Residence in teh local area and participation in activities are required during the appointment.

2. Tenure-Track Position in Japanese at Washington University

Deadline: December 1, 2003

Description: The Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages and Literatures at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a tenure-track position in Japanese at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2004. Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English and a proven record of excellence in, and commitment to, Japanese language teaching is required. Although the field of research specialization is open, the successful candidate will be expected to play a key role in teh continuing development of a dynamic language program. Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment.
