International Spouses/Partners English Program (ISEP)
The International Spouses/Partners English Program (ISEP), sponsored jointly by OISS and the NYU Steinhardt School of Education, Culture, and Human Development, provides non-credit English instruction at OISS once a week for 12 weeks. The course, taught by a graduate student in Steinhardt, focuses on conversational English and American culture, and is offered in the fall and spring semesters. The cost is $100 per semester. You can download an application or pick one up at OISS. Fall classes begin the week of September 21, 2009 and the application deadline is Friday, September 11, 2009. [Please note: due to renovation of the OISS conference room, all classes will be held on Fridays at the Steinhardt School , 239 Greene Street ] .

International Spouses/Partners Group (ISG)
The International Spouses/Partners Group (ISG), which meets once a month on Mondays from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., allows spouses and partners to meet informally to share common interests and concerns. Children are welcome. Interested spouses and partners should register for the group upon arrival. The first meeting of the Fall semester will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the OISS conference room. Annual September Orientation Breakfast for International Spouses/Partners
Every September, OISS sponsors an orientation breakfast for the spouses and partners of NYU international students and scholars. Children are welcome! At this all-morning event, we invite speakers throughout the university, including continuing spouses and partners, to discuss such issues of concern as continuing education, work, health, and childcare. A resource table is available with information from many university offices. We encourage family members to attend since the event provides a valuable opportunity for them to meet each other, to share addresses and telephone numbers, and for those with children to form playgroups. The event shall be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Great Room, 19 University Place . This event is free of charge, but reservations with the OISS are required by September 8, 2009, and can be made by phone, email, or in-person. Email: mat425@nyu.edu .
