Graduate and Professional Skills Series
These workshops provide the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to be effective and professional graduate students. Please note that although the series was created with graduate students in mind, all NYU students are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions.
Past sessions include: Presentation and Public Speaking Skills, Time Management, APA Style Citation Format, U.S. Style Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Academic Job Search and C.V. Writing, and Interviewing Skills and Networking.

Getting the Job: Job Search Techniques and Interview Skills That Work

Learn about the power of networking and meeting the right people in your field. Then learn about interview preparation, proper attire, and appropriate responses to difficult questions. Presented by Diana Richter, a Career Development Counselor at the Wasserman Center. This seminar includes a complementary lunch.
Presentation and Public Speaking Skills
Date: Thursday, October 23 2:00 p.m. — 3:30 p.m.
Location: OISS, 561 LaGuardia Place
This workshop will teach you how to be an effective public speaker and will provides tips on formats and various means of delivery. Presented by Dr. Deborah Borisoff, professor of Culture and Communication at the Steinhardt School of Education. The presentation will last from 2:00—3:00 p.m. Appetizers will be served at 3:00 p.m.
NYU eVita-Your E-Portfolio for Life
Date: Thursday, November 20 12:30 p. m. — 2:00 p.m.
Location: OISS, 561 LaGuardia Place
Learn how to use NYU e-Vita, your personal online database where you can document and archive your academic and co-curricular experiences at NYU in a professional and organized format. Presented by Michelle Knopf, an Associate Director at the Wasserman Center. This seminar includes a complementary lunch.
