The role of the OISS
The Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) is the sole NYU office charged with handling immigration matters for all foreign students at NYU. In this time of increasing scrutiny and monitoring by the U.S. government of all visitors to the United States, it is crucial that you comply with every regulation governing your stay. The OISS is your resource on all matters pertaining to your immigration status. The Department of Homeland Security has a computerized tracking system in place to monitor the activities of all foreign students. NYU is required by law to provide detailed information about students. It is imperative that you use the many services of the OISS to make sure you are informed of and fully understand all immigration regulations.
