Global Guides
The OISS trains U.S. and foreign student volunteers to work as Global Guides. Global Guides receive training in leadership and intercultural communication skills as well as gain experience with event planning as they assist with OISS programs throughout the academic year. Guides are encouraged to use their individual strengths to create and conduct intercultural programs for U.S. and foreign students.
Eligibility
• At least one semester of NYU attendance
• One semester minimum commitment
• Minimum of ten volunteer hours per semester
Professional Development Opportunities
OISS Global Guides receive training from OISS staff and other professionals in leadership, intercultural and professional skills through training sessions, job shadowing and hands-on experience. Training opportunities include:
• Event Planning
• Intercultural Communication
• Country-Specific Training
• Problem Solving
• Time Management
• Public Speaking Skills
