Optional Practical Training (OPT)/Academic Training (AT) Reminder

If you are completing your studies this semester or wish to pursue pre-completion employment options, now is the time to review the information for F-1 Optional Practical Training and J-1 Academic Training.  Learn about the requirements to apply and the strict government deadlines.

Travel Reminder

Be sure to view the mandatory travel workshop on the OISS website prior to finalizing any travel plans for the upcoming vacation period.  Students new to NYU this semester must attend.  All F-1 and J-1 students should also check that your passport, visa and I-20 or DS-2019 are valid and have a current OISS travel signature.  For more information, view www.nyu.edu/oiss/legal/workshops.html

 

Spring 2009 Plans Beyond the NYC Campus

If you are planning to pursue NYU study abroad, research abroad, or otherwise not be at the NYC campus this spring, it’s important to meet with an OISS Advisor.  After discussing your plans with your academic advisor, be sure to visit the OISS to find out how your F-1 or J-1 status may be affected. Change of Program

If you are an F-1 student advancing from one degree program to another at NYU (for example, an Associate to Bachelor's degree program), you must apply for a new I-20 as soon as you are admitted to the new program.
