Insurance
Students are advised to obtain renter's insurance to provide for the replacement of belongings in case of fire or theft. Your property is not covered by your landlord or anyone else in case of damage. Renter's insurance is a relatively inexpensive investment that can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars in case your belongings are damaged. It can be obtained from most insurance companies. There are many insurance companies in the New York City area; you can find them in the yellow pages of the telephone book or through the web. You may wish to speak to classmates or friends to see if they can suggest a company they know and trust.
