Government & Community Affairs organizes an array of events for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members. Event topics range from community service efforts to academics and political awareness. Many of these events allow students and University staff to work side by side with local residents on projects that enrich the community.
Yearly community events include:
- The Children's Halloween Parade
- Holiday Toy Drive
- Volunteer in the Park Day
- Washington Square Park Music Festival
- Edgar A. Poe lectures
Yearly events for NYU students, faculty, staff, and alumni include:
- Albany Day Lobbying Trip
- Washington D.C. Lobbying Trip
- Constitution Day
Additionally, OGCA works with other departments in the University to put on events. Examples of past collaborations include:
- Building a Safer World colloquia organized by the Center of Catastrophe Preparedness and Response (CCPR), NYU Robert Wagner School of Public Affairs, and OGCA.
- Various seminars in conjunction with the Brademas Center for the Study of Congress
