Job Market Robust for 2006 NYU Graduates
Salaries will be up five percent for NYU’s Class of 2006 and more than
half of graduates can expect at least two job offers, according to
preliminary findings from a survey of the current graduating class’s
plans conducted by NYU’s Wasserman Center for Career Development.
Findings from a formal survey, called “Life Beyond the Square,” will be
available next fall.
According to Trudy Steinfeld, executive director of the center, it is
believed that hiring for NYU graduates will be up 10-15 percent,
starting salaries are projected to rise nearly five percent to
approximately $48,000, and about 60 percent of students will receive at
least two job offers.
Steinfeld notes that according to the National Association of Colleges
and Employers, NYU’s starting salaries are nearly $7,000 above the
national average. She adds that the hottest hiring sectors currently
include education, financial services, technology, health care,
hospitality, real estate, legal services, and consulting.
