New Web Site Helps Faculty Navigate NYU and NYC
The Office of the Provost recently launched a Web site that will help faculty members navigate all the services that NYU makes available to them.
The site, an initiative of the University’s new Office of Faculty Resources, is designed to provide faculty with a central on-line location where they can access information about the offices and departments that relate to teaching, research, funding, and living in New York City. A special feature is a detailed section on community resources, which includes relocation information for prospective and newly hired faculty. The Web site’s homepage displays several faculty-specific features, including news on recent research and funding accomplishments and a frequently updated selection of faculty profiles.
“We take pride in the fact that NYU offers such a diverse range of services to our faculty,” says e. Frances White, vice provost for faculty affairs. “This Web site serves as a kind of directory of those services. If faculty have one location where they can find this information, we hope they will feel encouraged to take full advantage of the support we offer.”
The development of the Web site was guided by input from representatives of each of NYU’s schools, and from administrators in offices whose services benefit faculty. A focus group comprised of NYU faculty also provided advisement.
“This has been a wholly collaborative effort from the beginning,” says Debra Szybinski, executive director of the Office of Faculty Resources.
The Web site for the Office of Faculty Resources is located at www.nyu.edu/faculty. Questions and comments can be sent to facultyresources@nyu.edu.
