Tisch School Asia Honors Chan for Humanitarian Work
International film star Jackie Chan was recently awarded a lifetime achievement award for his work as a distinguished actor and humanitarian by NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts Asia. The event at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, was part of a celebration, titled “A Daring Adventure,” to help mark the official opening of the new Tisch Asia campus.
Chan, whose blockbuster movies include Rumble in the Bronx, the Rush Hour trilogy, and Shanghai Noon, rose to international stardom from humble beginnings in his birthplace of Hong Kong. He has won numerous awards for acting, choreography, and filmmaking and has also been honored for his humanitarian and public service work. The Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation is devoted to a variety of causes, including youth development programs, scholarships, and support of the performing arts.
