Social Work’s Jeane Anastas Receives CSWE Award

Professor of Social Work Jeane Anastas will receive the 2007 Distinguished Recent Contributions to Social Work Education Award from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The award recognizes a social work educator’s achievements within the last 10 years.

In 2006-07, Anastas was a Senior Scholar at CSWE, conducting an on-line survey of doctoral students in social work. With colleagues on CSWE’s Council on the Role and Status of Women in Social Work, she also completed a study of gender inequities among social work educators. Currently she is working on a number of national projects including the Social Work Reinvestment Initiative, an advocacy program designed to generate state and federal legislation to improve education and career opportunities for social workers.

The Council on Social Work Education, founded in 1952, is a nonprofit national association representing 3,000 individual members as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education.
