NYU Alumni Score Big at the 2007 Emmys
By Richard Pierce
Alumni and faculty from NYU and the Tisch School of the Arts (TSOA) were well represented at this year’s 59th annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Television’s highest honors were handed out in two installments this year at the Shrine Auditorium, with the Creative Arts Emmys awarded on Sept. 8, and the all the rest on Sunday, Sept. 16 during the Prime Time Emmy Awards on FOX.
The awards are a symbol of peer recognition from over 13,000 members of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Each member casts a ballot for the category of competition in their field of expertise.
TSOA/Kanbar Institute of Film and Television faculty Spike Lee and Sam Pollard each won two awards; one in Nonfiction Programming for When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, and the other when the documentary was also singled out for an Exceptional Merit Award in Nonfiction Filmmaking.
