Tisch School Claims Eight 2009 Tony Award Nominees
The Tisch School of the Arts has seven alumni and one student among the 2009 Tony Award nominees. The nominees are: Best Play—Neil LaBute ‘91, author, and Rachel Helson ‘09, producer, for Reasons to Be Pretty; and Moisés Kaufman ‘89, author, for 33 Variations; Best Special Theatrical Event—Ken Davenport ‘94 and Donny Epstein ‘92, producers, for You’re Welcome America: A Final Night with George W. Bush; Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play—Raúl Esparza ‘92, for Speed-the-Plow; Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play—Marcia Gay Harden ‘88, for God of Carnage; Best Lighting Design of a Play—David Lander ’91, for 33 Variations.
