Student and Administrative Delegation Lobbies State Legislators in Albany
On March 3, the Office of Government and Community Affairs sent a delegation of 45 students and administrators to Albany to meet with members of the state legislature. The day kicked off with President John Sexton greeting the delegation and speaking about the issues important to NYU in a year when Governor David Paterson has to close a $15.4 billion budget deficit. Eight teams then visited 13 senators and 35 assembly members throughout the day.
In addition to the legislative visits, the NYU Nursing Van made its first trip to Albany. Nursing students and nurse practitioners provided blood pressure screenings and body mass index readings for legislators and their staff members.
