Urban Vietnam is Focus of Steinhardt-Wagner Exhibition

The Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, in partnership with the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, joined NYU’s celebration of Asian Heritage Month with the opening of Made in Vietnam, their fourth joint exhibition of the 2008-09 season. Curated by Steinhardt professor Ann Chwatsky, with curatorial assistance by Frankie Crescioni-Santoni and the Gallery Space at Wagner Committee, Made in Vietnam features a selection of lacquered prints by photographer and Steinhardt alumna Phuong M. Do.
The photographer delves into complex questions of self-identity and cultural and geographical displacement by revisiting her parents’ homeland and documenting the dynamic vibrancy of its urban spaces at twilight or at night. The exhibition is open to the public at the Wagner School, located on the second floor of the historic Puck Building, 295 Lafayette Street. It runs through May 31.
