NY Times Managing Editor Delivers Spring 2009 Albert Gallatin Lecture

New York Times Managing Editor Jill Abramson delivered the spring 2009 Albert Gallatin Lecture, “Why Quality Journalism Matters,” at the Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts. In her February address, Abramson emphasized the significance of rigorous reporting in a 24/7 news cycle and at a time when there are more media outlets than ever. Abramson, who previously served as the paper’s Washington bureau chief, also discussed how the New York Times has adapted and sought to maintain its standards in a rapidly changing industry. The Albert Gallatin Lectures, presented by NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, bring a series of notable figures from the worlds of politics, the arts, business, and academia to NYU to discuss contemporary issues with students, faculty, and members of the wider community.
