TISCH’S 194 RECORDINGS SHOWCASES SIX ARTISTS AT CMJ MUSIC FESTIVAL

Last month, 194 Recordings, the new record label in the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at the Tisch School of the Arts, showcased six of its own talented musicians as part of the 2008 CMJ Music Marathon festival. The artists performing were Earth Eater with Lacrymosa, Katie Buchanan, Nyellee, The Alright Ma’s, The Northern, and Captain Coconut. The Alright Ma’s, Lacrymosa, and The Northern are also featured on From the Highs to the Lows, 194 Recordings’ debut release this fall.
    The label was launched in December 2007 and draws on the unique talents of the young professionals within the department. It provides a way for these students to actively display the skills they have learned both through the department and from their own experiences in the music industry.
