Faye Ginsburg Named Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar for 2008-09
Faye Ginsburg, professor of anthropology in
the Faculty of Arts and Science, was recently named a Phi Beta Kappa visiting
scholar for 2008-09. Visiting scholars travel to universities and colleges
where Phi Beta Kappa chapters are located, spend two days on each campus, meet
and talk with undergraduates, participate in classroom lectures and seminars, and
deliver a major address open to the entire academic community.
Every year since 1956, the Phi Beta
Kappa Society has been giving students the opportunity to rub elbows with the
likes of Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Pulitzer
Prize winner Linda Greenhouse, and former U.S. Poet Laureate Howard Nemerov—all
of whom have served as Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholars.
