‘Fine Arts’ Becomes Department of Art History

The Department of Art History recently changed its name from the original title of Department of Fine Arts. Administrators believe the phrase “art history” better encompasses all of the department’s directions, specialties, and approaches—including study of the history of painting, sculpture, or art theory, classical and medieval archaeology, architecture and urban design studies, or museum and art market studies.
