Walking to Raise Oral Cancer Awareness
Participants at the third annual Oral Cancer Walk on April 19 in Harlem were cheered on by Ross Kerr, clinical associate professor of oral and maxillofacial pathology, radiology, and medicine, at far left, holding megaphone. The walk was sponsored by the College of Dentistry’s chapter of the Student National Dental Association. Seven hundred walkers and joggers participated in this event, which aimed to increase awareness of oral cancer and the simple steps which can be taken to prevent the disease. The event included free oral cancer screenings and raised over $30,000 for research.
